Parks and Open Space

Completed an historic $3 million makeover of Shoreview Park

We completed an historic renovation of Shoreview Park, adding a creative children’s play area, modern fitness equipment, accessible walkways and more. With this renovation, I’m thrilled that we could deliver a beautiful green space and outdoor area for recreation, where people of all ages can gather and thrive, to the Bayview.

Opened new, 7-acre bayfront Crane Cove Park

With the opening of the 7-acre bayfront park Crane Cove Park, we’ve built a stunning asset for our District 10 residents and San Franciscans across the city with full access to the Bay for the first time on the Southern Shoreline. The park is a testament to the area’s historic, industrial legacy, and we were thrilled to honor that by ensuring the park meets a wide range of our city’s modern needs: access to open, green space; new pedestrian and bicycle paths; and a design that protects nearby terrain — the SFMTA Mission Bay loop, Illinois St. — from flooding.

Expanding and revitalizing India Basin Shoreline Park and Jackson Playground

We successfully passed Proposition A: Health, Parks and Streets Bond in 2020, securing millions in funding to transform three parks in District 10. $29 million will be directed towards a new, 20-acre network of open space as we work to connect India Basin Open Space and India Basin Shoreline Park. The bond will also allocate $10 million towards the Herz Playground Recreation Center, in addition to another $10 million to transform Jackson Playground into the world-class park that Potrero Hill has long been fighting for.
